Cancer is expensive. Here are resources to help

Amid the fears of a cancer diagnosis, the last thing you want to think about is...how much is this going to cost? Unfortunately, cancer is expensive.  We hope that these organizations and resources help you to understand the financial impact of your diagnosis and how to pay for your treatment, transportation to doctor’s appointments, and other unforeseen costs.

SamaFund 

The Samfund provides support for young adult cancer survivors in the United States as they recover from the financial impact of cancer treatment. Through direct financial assistance and free online support and education, the Samfund helps young adults move forward towards their personal, professional, and academic goals.

 

Family Reach

Family Reach is a national nonprofit dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between a cancer patient and their treatment. Family Reach delivers financial education, financial planning, resource navigation, and emergency relief funds to patients and caregivers facing a cancer diagnosis so no family has to choose between their health and their home.

 

Cancer FAC

CFAC is a coalition of financial assistance organizations joining forces to help cancer patients experience better health and well-being by limiting financial challenges. 

 

CancerCare 

CancerCare offers information, resources and limited financial assistance (including transportation costs to and from treatment and help with treatment co-pays) to help people with cancer better cope with financial concerns.

 

Triage Cancer

"Triage Cancer® is a national, nonprofit organization that provides free education on legal and practical issues that may impact individuals diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers, through events, materials, and resources. The Legal & Financial Navigation Program offers one-on-one help with issues such as work, health and disability insurance, finances, and estate planning. CancerFinances.org is an online toolkit to help people manage finances after a cancer diagnosis." https://TriageCancer.org

 

MercyMedical 

Mercy Medical Angels provides patients with free transportation to medical care. On the ground with gas cards, bus and train tickets and in the air with trips flown by volunteer pilots and commercial airlines. Mercy Medical Angels is here to ensure that no one in need is denied medical care because they don't have transportation.  

 

NeedyMeds

NeedyMeds is a non-profit that connects people to programs that will help them afford their medications, other healthcare costs, and provide direct assistance.

 

Patient AirLift Services

Patient AirLift Services is a nonprofit that arranges free flights for medical patients requiring medical diagnosis, treatment or follow-up who cannot afford or are unable to fly commercially. PALS also arranges volunteer flights for family members of patients as compassionate missions, to ensure patients have support when they are away from home for long periods.

 

Patient Advocate Foundation

This independent division of Patient Advocate Foundation provides small grants to patients who meet financial and medical criteria. Grants are provided on first-come first served basis and are distributed until funds are depleted. Qualifications and processes for each fund may differ based on fund requirements.
